ACLU.  South Carolina’s ‘disturbing schools’ statute is facing a legal challenge from the civil rights group after increased scrutiny has prompted controversy over the law and its enforcement by school police. More.

Evans.  Former interim S.C. State President Franklin Evans is the new head of private Voorhees College in Denmark.  He’s focusing on boosting enrollment.  More.

MUSC.  Congratulations for being named the top hospital in the state.

Purchasing power.  According to a new study, you can get more for your dollar in South Carolina.  Neat.  Also, the state’s economy is projected to outpace the nation’s.

In the middle

New poll.  Depending on which side your are on will depend how you take this news:  A new poll shows Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is within two points of GOPer Donald Trump in the Palmetto State.  You heard it first last week when columnist Andy Brack suggested the possibility that S.C. voters could go blue in November.

Thumbs down

Sick workers.  Members of a federal health advisory board reported that some SRS workers exposed to radiation at the Aiken plant have waited more than a decade to learn if they will receive benefits to help pay medical bills.

Williams.  Thumbs down to University of South Carolina trustee Charles Williams of Orangeburg, who has pleaded guilty to trapping and killing federally-protected hawks, for complaining about a $75,000 fine by claiming the judge is a “bird lover.”  Suck it up, Williams.  You did wrong, repeatedly.

Trump.  For GOP candidate Donald Trump to even hint that “Second Amendment people” could take care of Clinton is so out of bounds that it defies belief.  Maybe First Amendment people will take care of him.

Delta.  If you had to fly this week, you probably know why.
