[Editor’s note: Two readers had very different views of last week’s column by Andy Brack, “Red or blue? How will S.C. vote in November?” A new poll shows Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton trailing GOP candidate Donald Trump by two points.]
Yep, Hillary could win South Carolina
To the editor:
I agree, Hillary could win South Carolina. She is aiming to crush the Republican Party, not just beat Trump. And that is what she absolutely will have to do if she doesn’t want four years like Obama has had, especially lately.
Hillary has to not only win the White House but she has to carry enough Dems into the House or Senate to end the Republican threat of voting down everything she proposes, no matter how good an idea it is.
Hillary and the Dems realize they have to do this. To that end, I hope the Dems are working feverishly to destroy Trump now, in late August or early September. Cut off the head now and those Repubs who are banking their hopes on Trump will go floundering.
And that might not be so hard to do. After all, Trump has said he doesn’t want to be president, he just wants to grandstand. Leave the day-to-day for Pence to struggle with.
My guess is Trump is going to blow up sometime soon — either at his own hand or with just a little coaxing. I think he already is looking for an excusable way out of the race.

Nope, column was off the mark
To the editor:
A well-written article but very noticeable lack of content. Can we stomach the Trump hubbub? Maybe yes, maybe no. Should we stomach the constant lying from [Hillary] Clinton, the DNC and the current administration? A resounding NO.
You may want to write an article on the $400 million sent to Iran and Clintons participation or even her comments on it; maybe an article on our Benghazi servicemen that lost their lives and how Secretary Clinton accuses the families of lying. Let’s see how our red and blue folks feel about that. Or maybe, do an article on the interview of the Trump kids on how Trump treats women and why the same questions were not asked to Chelsea. Now that would be a great article.
