With the state Senate being the only game in town for the past week, lawmakers offered few new bills:
School boards. S. 1196 (Martin) would require school boards to provide an annual notice of whether any schools it plans to close or consolidate, with many provisions.
College boards. S. 1198 (Peeler) calls for April 27 to be the date which the House and Senate meet jointly to consider and vote on candidates for state college and university boards.
Bathroom bill. S. 1203 (Bright) is the controversial anti-gay legislation that mimics a North Carolina law that would require people to use bathrooms associated with their birth gender.
Energy. S. 1211 (Grooms) calls for a pilot program that would allow Santee Cooper to sell power for “electrolytic processors,” such as financially-imperiled Century Aluminum at market-based prices to help save jobs, with several provisions.
