TALLY SHEET: Comprehensive drug testing to animal shelters and telemedicine

00_icon_tallysheetStaff reports  |  Of interest this week:House members, who grappled with the budget through Wednesday, waited until then to introduce a little more than two dozen new bills, most of which dealt with honorary resolutions or regulatory matters.  In the Senate, members introduced 10 bills.  The relative paucity of introductions highlights how the two-year session is heading toward a close.  Of interest:

IN THE SENATE  

Housing tax credit.  S. 1183 (Davis) seeks a plan for an allocation plan for a low-income housing tax credit, with many provisions.

Drug/alcohol testing. S. 1190 (Bright) seeks to require drug or alcohol testing for anyone who “does any act forbidden by law,” with several provisions.

IN THE HOUSE  

Food stamps.  H. 5142 (Willis) seeks to require the state Department of Social Services to have more limited abilities to apply for food stamp waivers and to disqualify, discontinue or terminate benefits from recipients if they fail to comply with child support orders or SNAP requirements, with other provisions.

Animal shelters.  H. 5160 (Ott) seeks more state scrutiny of animal shelters across the state, with more record-keeping and supervisory requirements,

Telemedicine.  H. 5162 (Fry) seeks to enact a state telemedicine act to authorize the practice and establish standards of training, care and more, with many provisions.
