There will be more than a dozen meetings next week by subcommittees of the House Ways and Means Committee as they continue early work on the 2016-17 budget. Also on tap: An Agriculture subcommittee will consider a bill on regulations of dams. See the House calendar for next week.
In the Senate, the top bill up for consideration on special order is a House bill (H 3579)that relates to increased funding for transportation infrastructure. Not only does it call for reshaping the state Department of Transportation as a cabinet agency, but it would raise a tax on gasoline to fund roads. See the Senate calendar for next week.
