Long list of names in pipeline

Schedulers in the Senate will have their hands — and smartphones — full in the coming weeks.

00_icon_politicsThanks to the legislation that created the Department of Administration in last year’s legislative session, the General Assembly has much more oversight into the goings on at state agencies and departments.

In the Senate, more scrutiny will be given to confirming gubernatorial appointees to serve agencies because senators want to make sure the right people are overseeing agencies.

Last week alone, the names of 41 gubernatorial appointees were read across the clerk’s desk.

But be warned: There will be more nominees in the coming weeks, so a good part of the early weeks in this year’s session could be a bit clogged.
