Ex-House Speaker Bobby Harrell, the Charleston Republican who fell from grace last year in an ethics and corruption scandal, has a new sign going up at his West Ashley insurance office in Harrell Square on Sam Rittenberg Blvd.
Harrell, who was affiliated with State Farm insurance for 34 years, learned in November from the company that his contract was ending. The former speaker resigned from the House and pleaded guilty in October to six misdemeanor charges of misusing his campaign account for personal benefit in relation to reimbursements for use of personal aircraft.
In November, Harrell said he expected to open an independent insurance agency in his former State Farm office. More.
